Fusion presents
QUANTUM
A choral exploration of the universe
Fusion's next project intersects music and science – part concert, part physics lecture!
In collaboration with Dr Joel Corney from the School of Mathematics and Physics at UQ, we break down various concepts from quantum physics and illustrate them with musical examples. Dive into the world of particles and interactions, the uncertainty principle, waves and harmonics, the ratio of planetary orbits, string theory and metaphysical ideas of observation, existence and consciousness with music by Eriks Esenvalds, Ann-Sofi Soderqvist, Urmas Sisask, Daniel Knaggs, J.S. Bach, Queen and U2. We also present the world premiere of a cappella renditions of two songs from John Boswell's YouTube hit, The Symphony of Science, arranged especially for Fusion.
Note: Due to the difficulty of presenting lecture slides in the venue, we're going digital with programme notes for this concert. If you're able to, bring a device that can read a PDF so you can follow along with Joel's exploration of quantum physics (in terms that even the scientific layperson can understand!).
